I would like to finish our downstairs family room but don't know what to do! So I am in need of some help! I want to be able to switch up the color scheme without having to buy new furniture. Like this picture:

I do not know what color to paint the walls basically. I am a little tired of beige land but I also don't want to go too crazy with color so that I get sick of my walls by the end of the summer.
I need color schemes ladies! Here is our room...no I do NOT want to keep the walls red.

Here is the couch that we have decided on (2 pictures same sectional):

I am really liking apple greens right now, like this pillow from
Ballard Designs
I am also digging the aqua blues like in these pictures:

But then I will look at something like this:

and love it immediately! Something about grays affects me to the core. I think they are so nice and cool but I don't think a chocolate brown couch would look the best next to a gray wall. I may just have to use the gray in my master bedroom one day, like this:

If any of you have ideas or pictures that you wouldn't mind shooting my way, it would be very much appreciated!
Where is Candace Olsen from Divine Design when I need her?!

Love the couch. Paint a bit darker than beige, like brown paper bagish, with lots of accents in green and blue. Love it all!
You could use a blueish gray. It's on the walls of my townhome and I really like it. It would go well with the brown I think and then you wouldn't have a ton of brown in the room.
you could do a faux exposed brick accent wall, or white with lots of molding so it's not so blah, or a a light, milky gray would look good with a dark, chocolate couch. my favorite design blog is design*sponge. i'm constantly saving pictures off of it for future house ideas: www.designspongeonline.com
lacey, i'm so glad you're back to this blog. i love all your projects. ok...you asked! i like benjamin moore's edgecomb grey. it's a grey color but it has some brown undertones (i know, hard to believe) i'm not sure how it would look with the couch but, get a little and paint a canvas first to see what you like! i also really like silversage from restoration hardware. they have it on their website and you can look at it there. it's a gorgeous aqua color but it's neutral enough that i don't think you'd get sick of it. good luck..i can't wait to see it!
